Calculate Ground Floor Area

Used to compute the gross floor area.

To calculate ground floor area:

  1. Measure all exterior dimensions of that floor, including stairwells.

  2. Construct a diagram showing these measurements.

  3. Add the square footage of each area together for the gross floor area.

Example

Area A

25 ft. x 50 ft.

=

1,250 sq. ft.

Area B

75 ft. x 100 ft.

=

7,500 sq. ft.

Total Gross Floor Area

=

8,750 sq. ft.
